Four telecommunication firms in Ghana have been fined $7 million for poor services.
The fine imposed by Ghana’s National Communication Authority affects MTN AirtelTigo, Glo and Vodafone.
The firms, according to the communication authority which is a regulator were fined as result of non-compliance with various quality service requirement.
AirtelTigo received the highest fine of $2.4 million followed by MTN with $1.8 million fine.
Vodafone was fined a little over $1.6 million while Glo was fined $828,000.
These are the biggest fines imposed on telcos so far by the country’s telecom regulator.
The four telcos have up to one month to pay the fine or risk further sanction.
Many communities in Ghana are without proper connectivity and instances where they do, services are poor.
