The Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall are beginning their tour of Africa from Gambia on Wednesday.
The couple are expected to spend nine days in West Africa particularly Commonwealth countries.
This is the couple’s first visit to the Gambia after the exit of Yahya Jammeh.
The Gambia rejoined the Commonwealth in February after ex-leader Jammeh branded the body as a “neo-colonial institution”.
Jammeh withdrew Gambia from the Commonwealth – an organization for former British colonies, five years ago.
Current Gambian President, Adama Barrow applied for his country’s readmission to the body when he took office in 2017.
The royal couple will also visit Ghana and Nigeria during the tour.
