About eleven African leaders will be attending the G-20 Compact with Africa Conference which opens on Tuesday in Berlin, Germany.
The Conference is bringing together reform-minded African countries, International organizations and bilateral partners from G-20 and beyond.
They will be co-ordinating country-specific reform agenda, support respective policy measures and advertise investment opportunities to private investors.
Ghana’s President Nana Akuffo Addo is among African leaders who are in Berlin for the event. The west African nation has already signed a €100 million bilateral Investment and Reform Partnership agreement with Germany.
The deal is to promote private investment in renewable energy and vocational training under the compact.
The G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) was initiated under the German G20 Presidency to promote private investment in Africa, including in infrastructure.
The CwA’s primary objective is to increase attractiveness of private investment through substantial improvements of the macro, business and financing frameworks.
The initiative is demand-driven and open to all African countries. Since its launch in 2017, the CwA has sparked great interest.
So far, eleven African countries namely: Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia have joined the initiative.
