The first lady of the United States, Melania Trump has revealed the African countries she intends visiting next month.
During a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the US first lady revealed that she will be visiting Ghana, Malawi, Kenya and Egypt.
Mrs. Trump is traveling to Africa for the first time without her husband. She announced the trip last month.
Melania Trump is expected to focus on humanitarian work and “development programmes being done in many of the countries”.
She described these countries as “four beautiful and very different”. Mrs Trump said the trip would be part of her Be Best campaign.
The first lady is hoping to improve child welfare, especially when it comes to online behaviour and addiction to opioids.
AP quotes her as saying that “Each of us hails from a country with its own unique challenges, but I know in my heart we are united by our commitment to raising the next generation to be happy, healthy and morally responsible adults”.
Many Africans were angry at President Trump this year when he was reported to have referred to the continent as a ”shithole”.
Many Africans do not consider President Trump a friend of the continent.
