There is outrage from many South Africans after a seven year old girl was raped in a restaurant toilet.
Police say the girl was raped allegedly by a 20-year-old man who followed her into the women’s restroom. The man then pulled the girl into a men’s washroom before raping her.
The Pretoria eatery where the seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped has confirmed the incident.
In a statement the eatery said “Dros Head office hereby confirms that an incident (involving a minor child) took place at one of its franchise outlets‚ namely Dros Water Meyer‚ situated in Silverton‚ Pretoria.”
The suspect has been arrested by the police and charged with rape and possessing drugs. He appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday and was remanded in police custody.
South Africa is among the top countries globally with with one of the highest incidences of rape.
Anger from South Africans
Many South Africans are unhappy with the country’s justice system in dealing with rapists.
The justice system is South Africa is too lenient towards inhuman crimes. Rape, Trafficking, child abuse and murders should be taken with greater punishment

South Africa has become a living horror movie. Abuse, rape and murder has become a thing of a trending culture. It is painful, it is horrific and it is a terrible atmosphere for new and forthcoming generations to be born into. SA is a dangerous place to raise a female child in. https://t.co/dBfPTH6pWn

Too rude – kidnap and rape you to teach you a lesson
Too friendly – kidnap and rape you coz you asked for it.

This is a shocking statement from Dros about the girl that was raped at Dros in Silverton. It lacks empathy and uses sanitised language about “an incident involving a minor child” almost as if she had agency.
Zero compassion & examination of whether the place is child friendly. pic.twitter.com/prme7C5LW5
