The Nigerian Army says it has killed 14 Boko Haram militants in Borno state. The army also says it’s officers rescued 21 hostages in Pulka village in Gwoza Local Government Area of the same state.
On Tuesday the militants kidnapped over ten people in Northeastern Nigeria, according to military officials.
Those kidnapped were aboard a bus from Maiduguri, in Borno State. They were traveling to the town of Gwoza, near the border with Cameroon.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the spokesman for the Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu said in a statement on Friday that “The troops have neutralised 14 Boko Haram and rescued 21 civilians, comprising six women and 11 children.
“The troops engaged and subdued the terrorists, following a superior firepower of troops in the village. Four men injured during the attack are being attended to at the military hospital.”
Boko Haram since 2009 has been wrecking havoc in Nigeria, killing several people and displacing millions. The Nigerian army has continued to struggle to contain their activities.
