Youth in Nigerian town of Iwo in the Osun State are reported to have set a police station ablaze. The angry youth are protesting over the alleged killing of a student by a police officer.
Tunde Nofiu was shot dead by an officer attached to the Special Anti Robbery Squad while on holidays.
Punch in Nigeria reports that the student was going to Iwo from Olupona when he was shot dead on Thursday night.
The incident has sparked protests from community members who have now attacked the police station in the town.
The youth during their protest on Friday set the police station on fire as they demand justice.
On Wednesday another group of irate youth in Nigeria’s Imo State also set a court building in the town of Olru on fire.
15 of these youth in a chaotic way set the Magistrates’ Court on fire destroying all documents.
Police say they consider the incident a suspected case of arson.
