More than 18 people are reported to have been trapped beneath a collapsed building in Nigerian city of Abuja, local media reports.
The four-storey building according to the PUNCH collapsed Friday afternoon in the Jabi area of Abuja.
25 people were believed to be inside the building when it collapsed. The building was under construction at the time of its collapse.
Rescue efforts are ongoing to bring those trapped beneath the rubble outside. But that is being hampered by the weather, according to reports.
Local media reports that so far six persons have been rescued.
One dead body has also been retrieved. Owners of the building were putting it up for a shopping complex.
Last year a four-story residential building also collapsed in Nigerian city of Lagos killing at least eight people.
Building collapses are common in Nigeria and other countries in the sub-region due to concerns of poor building materials and methods.
