Egyptian officials say security forces have successfully stopped an attempt to bomb a church just outside of the capital Cairo.
State television made the announcement on Saturday in a broadcast but gave little details of the said attempted attack.
There are no reports of the bomb detonating or casualties as a result of the attempted attack.
Egyptian churches have consistently come under attack from militants.
Several attacks have take place in recent years on churches with the impact being deadly.
These attacks are often carried out by Islamic State militants.
Last December four people including a police officer were killed after a gunman opened fire on a church south of Cairo.
Five security staff at the church were also wounded in the attack when the gunman stormed the building.
Egypt has launched several operations to end such attacks but hasn’t made the needed success yet.
10 percent of Egypt’s population comes from the Coptic Christians making it the largest minority religious group the country’s 93 million people.
