Eight people have been killed by a strange disease in Uganda, according to officials.
Sixteen others have also been hospitalized following the outbreak of the disease in the central region district of Mubende.
Ugandan officials have now sent samples of the disease to the United States for further laboratory tests.
The symptoms of the disease include high fever, blood in vomit, acute headache and bloody diarrhea.
The Ministry of Health in Uganda in a statement said previous laboratory tests did not show any sign of Ebola, Rift Valley Fever, Crimean Congo, Marburg and yellow fever.
Health officials say they are taking measures to prevent further spread of the disease.
A containment center has been set up at Mubende Regional Hospital for close monitoring of suspected cases, according to the statement.
Communities in the region are being monitored by a surveillance team to contain the situation.
The first case of the strange disease was reported on July 1.
Ugandans are being asked to report any suspected cases to the nearby health facility.
