Four extremists and seven soldiers in Algeria have been killed in separate violent clashes.
The militants were killed in a violent clash in the Skikda region, east of the capital city of Algiers.
Algeria’s defence ministry said on Tuesday that the “elimination” of the four “terrorists” also led to the recovery of some machine guns.
Associated Press reports that the seven soldiers were also killed in a violent clash on Monday in the locality of Bessi.
The soldiers were conducting a search and sweep operation.
The Algeria defence ministry has however not commented on the death of the soldiers.
AP reports that the Skikda region was a former stronghold of armed groups during the 1990s.
It is known for its mountainous and wooded terrain and has not seen extremist violence in several years.
