Chad officials say eighteen people have been killed in an attack carried out by Boko Haram militants.
AFP reports that a Chadian military source said on Sunday that the attack took place in the Lake Chad region.
The military source told AFP that “Boko Haram elements attacked a village south of Daboua,” on Thursday. The village is not far from Chad’s border with Niger.
The militants reportedly “cut the throats of 18 people, wounded two others and kidnapped 10 women”.
Chad is now recording a rise in such attacks from Boko Haram.
Regional efforts by countries like Cameroon. Nigeria, Niger and Chad to defeat Boko Haram are yet to succeed.
Boko Haram continues to wreck havoc in parts of Africa leading to thousands of deaths.
The insurgency started in 2009 and has displaced millions.
