A man in Ethiopia has been arrested for failing to resurrect a dead man.
The man who claims to be a prophet tried reviving the dead body by lying on top of him.
He was captured in a video yelling “Belay, wake up” at the dead man called Belay Biftu.
Getayawkal Ayele’s failure to bring Belay back to life led to an attack on him by relations of the dead man.
He was rescued by the police but his action was considered offensive hence his subsequent arrest.
Police officials in Ethiopia say abusing dead bodies is a crime under Ethiopian law. Ayele who is a health workers is now in custody, according to the BBC.
Mr Getayawkal is reported to have visited the bereaved family in the a small western town of Galilee, in the Oromia region.
There he told them the story of Lazarus, who according to the Bible was resurrected by Jesus.
The suspect convinced the family that he could bring their loved one back to life.
When given the opportunity to do so, Getayawkal failed.
He was subjected to physical assault by angry family members who felt fooled by him.
Police arrived at the scene to rescue and arrest him.
