Former Finance Minister of Nigeria, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has joined social media giants, Twitter.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala will be joining the board of Twitter.

The announcement was made on Thursday by Twitter CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey.

He wrote on his Twitter account that “We’re adding Ngozi…..to the Twitter board.”

Okonjo-Iweala also confirmed the appointment on Twitter expressing her excitement to work with the board of Twitter.

With Okonjo-Iweala’s appointment, Twitter now has three women on its board, two of whom are black.

Reactions

There have been reactions to this appointment on social media.

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is an economist by training and the first female Minister of Finance in Nigeria.

She served two terms as Finance Minister of Nigeria under former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yaradu’a.
