Nigeria’s northeast Nigerian state of Borno on Saturday suffered a major attack once more resulting in the deaths of at least 31 people.
Saturday’s attack is the largest witnessed in the state for weeks. The militant group Boko Haram is believed to have carried out the attack although it hasn’t claimed responsibility.
Reuters reported that residents heard of a blasts in the Damboa local government area at night.
The rocket related attack, according to one resident “destroyed our houses. We have also counted 31 innocent people including children and elderly killed in the attack.”
Boko Haram’s insurgency has been ongoing since 2009 without relenting.
Thousands of people have been killed during the insurgency aimed at establishing islamic caliphate in northeast Nigeria.
Millions have also been displaced by the activities of Boko Haram. The Borno state is one of the worst hit states in Nigeria.
