There is outrage in Kenya’s capital Nairobi after news broke of a teacher at a girls’ school allegedly raping a student on Saturday.
Police in Nairobi arrested the teacher at the Moi Girls High school who is now facing a probe for forcibly having sex with one of the girls at a hostel as well as assaulting two other students.
Local media reported that in the teacher as part of the police investigation is to undergo DNA testing.
The victim of the rape, a 15-year-old victim was described by the Daily Nation to be “bleeding and looking weak and too traumatised to talk”. She has since the incident been taken to hospital for treatment.
The Daily Nation quoted one of the students as saying that “Three men entered the cubicle shared by four girls. One girl managed to escape unhurt. The men then attempted to rape two other girls but they escaped, although they were beaten. One attacker managed to rape one of the girls.”

Some students were said to have sought help from the school matron but that didn’t come until several hours later.
Daily Nation also claimed that some of the students alleged that their teachers dismissed the rape claim of the victim and asked the students to remain calm avoid making up stories.
Moi Girls High school was in the news recently after a fire outbreak in one of its dormitories killed nine students in what was suspected and later confirmed to be an arson attack.
