A United States of America citizen has been found dead in his room at a resort in Eastern part of Ghana, according to police officials.

Norman Sun Harris aged 65, according to police officials was discovered dead in his room by managers of Boti falls, a popular tourist site in Ghana.

A police spokesperson Ebenezer Tetteh told local media that the deceased had been contracted by the Management of Boti Falls to build a canopy walk at the resort.

He was said to have fallen ill last month and received medical treatment from a public health facility, whose medical officers eventually discharged him.

Two tour guards reportedly broke into Harris’ room to check on his health condition only to find him dead laying on his bed.

Ghana: Man arrested for protesting close to President’s wife

Ebenezer Tetteh told the media that there are no signs of any foul play in the death of the American, but an autopsy is to be conducted on the body at Ghana’s Police Hospital in Accra.

The police are also expected to inform the American Embassy about the death of the American.
