One more person has been killed in violent protests in Taung, North West of South Africa as agitations continue over jobs and call for the of the head of the province Supra Mahumapelo to resign.
Police on Tuesday said the protests claimed the life of a teenage boy after two people were also reported to have died last week.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said the 16-year-old had died during protest action on Monday.
The chaotic protests erupted last week over housing and corruption issues, forcing police officers to fire rubber bullets into crowds on Friday.
Shops have been looted and cars set ablaze in other parts of the province, but the police have assured everything is being done to bring the situation under control.
The police had confirmed that 23 people who participated in the protest last week were arrested. 11 more others have been arrested on Monday.
