They were expected to stay on and enjoy the best moment of their lives, but two Nigerian brides left their wedding receptions to sit for their final exams at school.

CNN reported that the two ladies studying Mass Communication had to rush through with their marriage vows in order to make it to the campus of the Benue State University to write their “Media Ethics and Law” exams.

Dorcas Atsea and Deborah Atoh had their wedding dates fixed on April 7 but their university re-scheduled its date for the exams due to logistical challenges. That means the two ladies have no choice than to get married and write exams on the same day.

The brides entered the exams hall in their wedding gowns to the surprise of other students who were sitting the exams.

“I was excited graduating and wedding at the same time. My classmates were so happy,” Atsea is quoted by the CNN as saying.

Deborah Atoh told CNN that “When I walked into the hall, for ten minutes everybody was just shouting before we started the exam and after the exam, I went back to the reception venue because my guests were waiting for me.”

Their course lecturer Dr Benjamin Ogbu is reported by Africa News to have said that the incident represented “double joy” for the students.

“The timetable for the exam was earlier fixed before their weddings were fixed and interestingly, both were on April 7, 2018. Since the exam couldn’t be shifted, the two brides left their various reception venues for the examination hall to sit for the exams in their wedding gowns,” Africa News quoted Ogbu as saying.

The lecturer added that “We were happy that our students got married and they (students) were happy too that they got married and also took their last exams same day. It was a double joy for them.”
