Former president of South Africa,Jacob Zuma on Friday told a crowd of his supporters who gathered outside a Durban high court for his corruption case that he is innocent of the charges he is facing.
Jacob Zuma is facing prosecution for 18 charges of corruption. The charges relate to 783 questionable payments Zuma allegedly received in connection with the controversial multi-billion rand arms deal.
Mr. Zuma is facing charges including 1 count of racketeering, 2 counts of money laundering and 12 counts of fraud.
The case has been adjourned to June 8, but moments after the court appearance, Mr. Zuma told his supporters that “The truth will come out. What have I done? I am innocent until proven guilty.”

“Thank you very much, especially for your prayers and may God give you strength,” he told his supporters.
In court on Friday, Zuma’s legal team and state lawyers agreed for the postponement to give both sides time to prepare their submissions.
The Judge Themba Sishi said “This matter is adjourned to the 8th of June, 2018, which is a provisional date and the two accused before court, having been summoned to appear before this court, are released on warning”.
Mr Zuma’s plea for the charges be dropped was rejected by the South African state prosecutors, hence his decision to legally challenge the decision to prosecute him.
The former South African leader resigned from office this year after the African National Congress recalled him and put pressure on him to step down.
