Kenyan officials have once again deported an opposition politician Dr Miguna Miguna after refusing him entry into Kenya this week while spending days in detention at the Jomo Kenyatta airport in Nairobi.
Miguna’s deportation on Wednesday was carried out despite a court order asking the government to release him and allow him entry into the country.
The National Super Alliance (Nasa) activist spent most of his hours in detention in a “toilet” facility near Terminal 2 at the airport after traveling from the UK to Kenya.
One of Miguna’s lawyer Cliff Ombeta confirmed the deportation of his client to Dubai and was quoted as saying that Dr Miguna “was sedated, handcuffed and taken away”.
I was dragged, assaulted, drugged and forcefully flown to Dubai. I woke up in Dubai and the despots are here insisting that I must travel on to London. I’m sick. I need medical treatment. A Mr. Njihia is… https://t.co/ud3ydGIqr8

The Kenyan Immigration Service on Tuesday defended its decision to refuse Miguna entry into the country as it claimed the politicians has a dual Kenyan and Canadian citizenship.
Miguna was accused of refusing to cooperate in submitting relevant documents to facilitate his entry into the county.
The immigration service said Miguna lost his citizenship in 1998 when he acquired a Canadian passport at a time Kenya did now allow dual citizenship.
Officials are now asking him to re-fill an application form for it to be reconsidered, a request Miguna Miguna is reported by local media to have refused to do.
In February this year Kenya’s High Court ordered immigration officials to ensure that the opposition politician returns to the country after he was deported to Canada.
A Kenyan court had ruled revoking the deportation of Miguna Miguna who was flown to Canada by the government.
The court’s ruling appears to have indicted the government’s action which was in response to Miguna’s role in administering an oath for opposition leader Raila Odinga who has declared himself as the country’s “president”.
