Officials in Madagascar have said that at least 17 people have died after a tropical storm hit the eastern part of the country.
The tropical storm called Eliakim according to authorities displaced over 6,000 people.
The National Office of Risk and Disaster Management of Madagascar said in a statement on Sunday that the storm hit the island’s Mananara region.
Mananara region, 635 km north-east of the capital Antananarivo was hit by a wind speed of 85 km per hour and gusts of 120 km per hour.
51 people died in January when Tropical Cyclone called Ava hit the country, the island’s disaster management office said.
