The doctors who is at the center of a horrific surgery in Kenya at the Kenyatta National Hospital has had his suspension revoked after cutting open the head of a wrong patient.

The Kenyatta National Hospital was forced to apologize to the said patient after the brain surgery was performed on him.

Daily Nation reported that the hospital’s board on Thursday said it has handed over investigations into the incident to the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.

The hospital sent home a register surgeon, anaesthetist and two nurses following public outcry but the chairman of the KNH board, Mark Bor is quoted as saying that “Effective immediately, the board will not longer engage in any disciplinary matters as we will leave it to the KMPDB.”

Last week local media reported that the said sad incident occurred after two men had been sent to the hospital last weekend for different head treatment.

One of them needed a surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain “while the other only required nursing and medication to heal a trauma swelling in his head”.

According to local media, “a horror mix-up of tags”, led to the wrong man being sent into theatre and his skull opened. Doctors realized the mistake hours into the surgery “when they discovered there was no blood clot in the brain”.
