The late opposition leader of Zimbabwe Morgan Tsvangirai was laid to rest on Tuesday in his home town of Buhera witnessed by his supporters, diplomats and some senior representatives of the ruling Zanu PF party.
Tsvangirai coffin was lowered to his final resting place, beside his first wife Susan. The Zimbabwe opposition leader died in South Africa after a long battle with cancer.
He nearly defeated former president Robert Mugabe in an election held nearly a decade ago and served as prime minister between 2009 and 2013 under Robert Mugabe.
Tsvangirai’s death has however left his party in disarray as there is a jostle for power due to lack of proper transition plan before his demise.
At the funeral on Tuesday, some supporters booed the two leaders challenging the appointment of the new acting president Nelson Chamisa.
Mr Chamisa told the supporters special meetings will be organised to find consensus on the party’s direction.
