The two political activists in Kenya prevented from travelling abroad after the government said it has not been formally alerted by the court to reinstate their passports have now been allowed to travel.
The immigration officials in Kenya said on Tuesday that the passports of senator James Orengo and financier Jimi Wanjigi had been suspended and are yet to be reversed.
The two activists both support opposition leader Raila Odinga who has declared himself the “people’s president”, an act that has irritated the government.
They were traveling to Zimbabwe for Morgan Tsvangirai’s funeral when they were detained over night.
Last week a Kenyan court ruled revoking the deportation of an opposition politician, Miguna Miguna who was flown to Canada by the government last week.
The court’s ruling indicted and challenged the government’s action which was in response to Miguna’s role in administering an oath for opposition leader Raila Odinga as the country’s “president”.
The government of Kenya has accused the opposition leader, Raila Odinga of attempting to overthrow a legitimate regime following his inauguration.
Odinga and his coalition party boycotted last year’s re-run presidential poll claiming the electoral commission failed to provide an even playing field for a free and fair election.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn in for a second term in November last year after winning the repeat presidential election held in October.
