Two of Robert Mugabe’s sons are facing imminent arrests for alleged corrupt deals while their father was in power.
Local media reported that state prosecutors are investigating Mugabe’s sons, Robert Mugabe Jnr, and Bellarmine Chatunga are being investigated for illegal gold trading.
The Zimbabwe Independent also said Russell Goreraza who is Grace Mugabe’s first son from her first marriage is also facing similar allegations and probe.
A source told the paper that the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) “is probing with the intention to arrest” the two brothers, along with several other former high-ranking government and ruling party officials.
“Mugabe’s sons, Chatunga, Robert Jr and Goreraza are under investigation on illegal gold trading allegations,” the paper added.
Robert Mugabe Jnr, and Bellarmine Chatunga have in the past made headlines for their lavish, playboy lifestyles in Johannesburg last year.
Meanwhile Two of Robert Mugabe’s allies and former cabinet ministers have been charged with corruption.
Lawyers for former foreign minister Walter Mzembi and ex-energy minister Samuel Undenge said they were charged on Friday with “criminal abuse of office”.
The two served under the former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and are part of a group of former government officials the current government is targeting in a crackdown on corrupt officials.
