The President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday met the leading opposition leader in that country Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
Moments after meeting the opposition leader who is battling cancer at home in Harare, Mnangagwa told reporters that a request for him to form a coalition with the MDC was needless.
Mnangagwa said “currently there is no need,” for a deal with Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
The Zimbabwean President is quoted as saying that “This is the new politics we want to see, the politics of peace, the politics of working together, the politics of feeling for one another. This is the direction and we hope it is the kind of talk that will be walked, and talk that will be sustained.”
ZANU-PF party and the MDC formed a coalition government in the country’s recent history after disputed elections and that national unity government lasted for five years until 2013.

Elections are due in Zimbabwe later this year and Mnangagwa is likely to lead his party the Zanu PF into that election after picking the leadership role following the exit of Robert Mugabe last year.
On the health of Tsvangirai, Mnanagwa said “He is fine, he is recuperating very well and says he will soon again be having a medical check-up in South Africa.”
