Soldiers in Uganda on Tuesday were seen in the country’s parliament as a debate on presidential age limit was about to begin.
Their presence forced proceedings to be suspended after opposition lawmakers protested and demanded their exit.
One of the MP’s Lucy Akello is reported by the Daily Nation to have said that she saw the soldiers occupying both the Catholic and Anglican Chaplaincy prayer places in Parliament.
On Monday a similar debate was suspended after the opposition MPs disrupted proceedings making it difficult for the speaker of parliament to conduct business as they raised several points of procedure.
Five of those MPs have been suspended for disrupting the house.

The presidential age limit bill has become controversial as critics of current President Yoweri Museveni say there is an attempt to ensure that he prolongs his stay in power.

The current age limit is 75 and President Museveni who is 73 will be able to stand for re-election in the 2021 elections if the age limit is removed.
