A man has been arrested in Zimbabwe for insulting and undermining the country’s president, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Local media reported that the man appeared in court after he was charged for the said crime.
Gustiv Kativhu was charged for calling Mnangagwa a “murderer” at the recently held Zanu PF conress, according to the New Zimbabwe.com.
Kitivhu, 45, was arrested at a congress to endorse Mnangagwa as party leader on Friday.
The 45-year-old had been protesting outside the venue of the congress carrying anti-Mnangagwa placards with some reading “Mnangagwa killed my friend. Zanu-PF is giving jobs to China. Mnangagwa–Chiwenga diamond mafia. Chiwenga don’t beat vendors, give them jobs.”
Kativhu said in court that Mnangagwa was said he “wanted to tell him that he killed my friend.”
Emmerson Mnangagwa took over from his former ally Robert Mugabe who resigned after a military take over.
