Police in Zimbabwe have launched a search for a 34 year old man who is alleged to have led a team of Zanu PF supporters to boo the country’s first lady, Grace Mugabe.
The incident happened on Saturday in Bulawayo at a party event where Mrs. Mugabe was addressing the gathering.
Magura Magura Charumbira is said to have played a major role in disrupting the first lady’s speech, according to the police.
President Mugabe is reported to be very angry at the incident who just this week sacked his deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Mugabe, 93 is said to have sacked Mr Mnangagwa because of the booing of Grace Mugabe with signals that the disruption was carried out Mr Charumbira, who had previously confirmed his support for the dismissed vice president.
Zanu-PF Bulawayo provincial chairman Cde Dennis Ndlovu told the state-run Herald newspaper “It emerged that from the small clique which tried to disrupt the rally, the majority of them were people from outside the province, particularly the Midlands and Masvingo.”
“They were brought in buses and coordinated by expelled party members that included Charumbira,” Ndlovu added.
Grace Mugabe told a church gathering in Harare last weekend that she is very ready to take over from her 93 year old husband as leader of the Southern African country.
“I say to Mr Mugabe you should … leave me to take over your post,” Grace said in an address to the gathering at a stadium in Harare.
