The instant messaging platform, WhatsApp on Friday experienced major interruption in parts of Africa and across the world.
Hundreds of users have complained on various platforms raising concerns about the challenges they face in using the application.
Fin24 reported that in South Africa over 500 reports were submitted to outage reporting website, Downdetector.
In Ghana some users also shared their frustrations via Facebook and other social media platforms.
Users in most cases could not access the web-based application so were unable to send or receive messages.
The messaging app is owned by Facebook and allows users to share images and videos, as well as make and receive video and voice calls.
The interruption has been reported in India, and the UK as well.
