There is an out-pour of anger from Ghanaians over the defilement of a four-year-old girl in central Ghana by a young man with the alleged perpetrator being freed by traditional leaders.
Local media, Joy FM reported that the incident occurred on October 14, 2017 with the victim’s mother, Monica Nyarko claiming that chiefs in her community refused to punish the suspect.
The traditional leaders are said to have told the mother of the victim that the suspect was pronounced innocent by the community’s deity.
The little girl is reported by local media to be unable to stand and in serious pain as she battles for her life. There have been many criticisms from many Ghanaians on social media and a call for justice for the little girl.

A gender advocacy group, the Alliance for Women in Media Africa (AWMA) has petitioned the country’s police service to bring the perpetrator to justice.
The group in its petition to the police command said it was demanding “The immediate transfer of the case to the National Police headquarters in Accra, due to the lackadaisical attitude of the Municipal Police Command in handling the case”.
The gender group is also asking the police to “Immediate arrest of the suspect of the pending full investigations”.
