The ruling party in Zimbabwe, Zanu-PF on Wednesday organized a rally and a march in the capital, Harare in solidarity with the country’s first lady, Grace Mugabe.

The party was unhappy with the huge backlash that greeted the alleged assault case involving Mrs. Mugabe during her trip to South Africa recently.

Grace Mugabe was granted a diplomatic immunity by the South African government to avoid prosecution for allegedly beating up 20-year-old South African model Gabriella Engels at a Johannesburg hotel with an extension cord.

Mrs. Mugabe accused the model of partying with her two sons at a hotel in Sandton.

Despite the granting of diplomatic immunity to the first lady, the South African model is not giving up on challenging that decision. She has filed an application in court to get the immunity overturned.

Hundreds of women and young people participated in the march held in Harare.
