The tension that characterized Kenya’s general elections doesn’t seem to be over yet after supporters of the opposition leader, Raila Odinga set ablaze a banner congratulating President Uhuru Kenyatta for winning the disputed presidential election.
Star Newspaper reported that the opposition supporters burned the banner in the western lakeside city of Kisumu.
A man was quoted as saying that the banner congratulating and celebrating Mr. Kenyatta was “disturbing peace.”
“We are still mourning. Uhuru should give us a break. Let him not disturb our peace,” the man said.
The residents chanted anti-Uhuru slogans signaling their displeasure at the banner and the inscriptions on it.

Mr. Odinga who has disputed the results of the August 8 elections has already filed a petition at the Kenya’s Supreme Court.
He alleges results manipulation during the elections.
