Zimbabwe’s Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa is reported to have suffered minor liver damage after doctors in South Africa detected traces of palladium poison in him.
According to NewsDay, its sources revealed that doctors discovered that Mr. Mnangagwa consumed non-radioactive that will now need flashing out of his systems over the next two months.
The NewsDay source close to the Vice President said “The VP ingested potent, non-radioactive poison which has low quality palladium substances which caused minor liver damage and he had to undergo surgery…,”
The vice president, 74, last week traveled to South Africa for medical care after suffering food poisoning.
Mnangagwa is reported by local media in Zimbabwe to have undergone surgery in South Africa “to treat the alleged poisoning”.
Mnangagwa, is considered the favourite to succeed President Robert Mugabe.
