Paul Kagame was inaugurated on Friday to serve for the next seven years as President of Rwanda after winning re-election this month with nearly 99 percent of the vote.
Friday’s ceremony is being attended by several African leaders.
Kagame in his speech called for Unity in his country and signaled the need for Africa to take charge of its own development.

He also praised the two other candidates who challenged him in the presidential elections for sending their messages directly to voters.

President Kagame had strong words for critics of his country’s political system and elections saying such actions made the citizens stronger and defiant.

Kagame took a swipe at foreign countries constantly persuading African countries to conform to different ways of governance and growth.

Kagame has been president since the end of the 1994 genocide.
