A Senegalese music star has been arrested for criticizing the president of the country, Macky Sall.
According to the AFP, Amy Colle Dieng was arrested on Thursday for what a police source said was “offending the head of state and broadcasting fake news.”

The popular singer in an audio recording which has been circulating on social media said the president “operates in the shadows” to achieve his aims.
Amy Colle Dieng further accused President Sall of doing “nothing” for the country since he came into office after winning the 2012 presidential elections.
She also declared her support for former president Abdoulaye Wade, who stood as an opposition candidate in last Sunday’s legislative elections.

Mr. Macky Sall’s party won last Sunday’s legislative elections but Amy Dieng in that famous audio recording accused the President of stealing the results.
She was arrested for what officials said were “disrespectful” and “offensive” attitude towards the president.
AFP reported that the singer is still in detention as at Friday.
In June this year four people were charged in with “offending public morals” by distributing a fake image of President Sall naked via WhatsApp.
