Over eight Ghanaians have been deported from Libya back home. The Ghanaians according to local media Starr FM were residing illegally in the North African country.
The deportees arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in Ghana’s capital Accra on Thursday night to go through immigration processing.
Many of them were reported to have looked weary and depressed due to the conditions they lived in while in Libya.
One of them you gave his name as Prince told Starr FM that they were imprisoned for over 8 months by Libyan officials prior to their deportation.
“As for Libya it’s not easy, we were arrested and put into prison. Some of us died some were sick, so many things happened,” Prince said.
Another deportee advised Ghanaian youth not to be lured to embark on dangerous journey to Europe through Libya for greener pastures.
Just this week over 200 Nigerians were also deported from Libya, a country many Africans have used as a transit point to Europe.
