Officials in Ghana have taken a giant step in the bid to effectively measure productivity in the West African Country. It follows the establishment of the International Institute for Productivity and Public Management.
The institute which was officially outdoored in Accra on Wednesday seeks to research, strengthen and disseminate knowledge to stakeholders to augment productivity growth and efficiency management in the Public and private sectors of the economy.
It is currently conducting some work on productivity in selected Ministries to inform policy decision. With a Gross National Income per capital of one thousand eight hundred and twenty dollars as of 2015, Ghana still grapples with the challenge of low human capital development and extensive gaps in resource management.
Founding President and CEO of the International Institute for Productivity and Public Management, George Smith Graham told Africa Feeds that the “establishment of the institute will establish the first ever productivity library in Africa that will aid students and researchers in the area of productivity.”
“There is the need to pay a critical attention to productivity enhancement practices through ; human capital development , management resources , accountability of public sector workers, effective development of private enterprises and reduction in corruption,” he added.
