More protests are expected to take place this month against President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma pushing for him to step down.
Hundreds of South Africans poured out to protest on Friday against Mr. Zuma but News24 reported that opposition political parties are hoping to stage another protest on Mr. Zuma’s 75th birthday on April 12.
The Political parties are to mobilize their members and South Africans to march to the Union Buildings to demand that Mr. Zuma exits power.
These renewed calls for Mr. Zuma to step down intensified after he sacked Pravin Gordhan as finance minister.
A debate on a vote of no-confidence motion against the president is also expected to take place in the country’s parliament on April 18.
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) said “We call on all South Africans to come out in even more numbers on 12 of April, 2017 on the National Day of Action to continue our rolling mass action against the Zuma regime.”
“We must all not retreat until Zuma steps down and a new president is inaugurated in South Africa.” Ndlozi added.
