Long-serving Ghana assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has been named caretaker of the Black Stars until Avram Grant’s successor is appointed.

The Executive Committee of the Ghana FA on Tuesday constituted a six-member body to be headed by the President Kwesi Nyantakyi and handed the task of finding the next coach for the national team.

While at it, the position remains vacant needing a stop-gap to steer affairs and keep the Black Stars in shape.

The Executive Committee has asked Konadu to step in and be assisted by the current team psychologist.

“Maxwell Konadu will be the caretaker coach of the Black Stars until the substantive coach is named. He will be assisted Professor Joseph Mintah, who will also continue in his role as the team psychologist,” a Ghana FA statement said.

Konadu who has occupied the assistant coach position of the Black Stars since 2012 will continue his role as head of the home-based team but will relinquish the role to the yet to be appointed coach of the senior national team.

“The new Black Stars coach will also take charge of the Local Black Stars as the head coach of the home-based national team,” Ghana FA’s Executive Committee also decided at Tuesday’s meeting.
