The government of Tanzania has decided to stop AIDs- related services from 40 privately run health centers.
According to the AP news agency, the government has accused these health centers of catering for homosexuals.
The Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu is reported to have said that non-governmental organizations are using some health centers to promote gay sex.
The Tanzanian government last September temporarily suspended HIV/AIDS outreach projects for persons believed to be gays.
Last year the ban on HIV/AIDS outreach projects saw U.S.-funded programs that provide testing, condoms and medical care to gays being affected.
About 30 percent of gay men in Tanzania are HIV-positive. Gay sex is criminalized in the Tanzania. It is punishable by a jail term of up to 30 years in prison.
