At least four people have been killed in suicide bombing attack in Nigeria’s University of Maiduguri on Monday.
Local media the Punch reported that over 17 were also injured in the attack on two mosques in the University at 5am during Muslim Subhi prayers.
The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency, Abdul Kadir Ibrahim said in a text message to local media that “Twin Blast from suicide bombers reported at University of Maiduguri. A mosque near Gate 1 and one other location around Gate 5 were targeted during the early hours of today.”
Mr. Ibrahim said “rescue and security officials are on site” to help those injured and conclude causality evacuation. He gave further details of “2 people and 2 suicide bombers confirmed dead and 17 injured at the time of response.”
A professor at the University of Maiduguri and a child were among those killed. No group has claimed responsibility but the attacks resemble those undertaken by the militant group, Boko Haram.
