A former minister of foreign affairs of Nigeria, Bagudu Hirse is reported to have been abducted by gunmen. The Daily Trust reports that the former minister was kidnapped in Kaduna State.

A witness told the daily trust that Bagudu Hirse was taken away when he alighted from his car and was exchanging pleasantries with some guests in front of the house the nephew of President Buhari.

The eyewitness said the three armed men, wore masks, jumped down from a car and accosted the former minister immediately.

The paper quoted the eyewitness to have said that “From what I could hear, they were asking him to get into their car but he was trying to seek further explanations from them. But at that time, people started approaching the scene, so one of them raised the gun he was holding and made to shoot but it did not fire, he tried it the second time and it failed, but the third time, shots rang and people ran for dear lives.

“That was when they forced him into the car, removed his cap and threw them on the ground. The other masked man then kicked his other friend on the shin and that was how they drove away,” he stated.

A police spokesperson in the Kaduna State, Usman Aliyu confirmed the incident to the Daily trust saying “I can confirm to you that the incident happened, but we normally don’t disclose our plan. All I can tell you now is that it happened and the police are putting the necessary deployment to rescue the victim as soon as possible”.
