A militant group in Nigeria called the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) has claimed to have bombed oil pipelines in southern part of the country.
The group said it blew up three trunk lines carrying 300,000 barrels of oil a day to the Bonny export terminal of Dutch-British producer Shell in southern Bayelsa state.
The group said this latest attack will signal its resolve to get the government to meet its demands.
The Delta Avengers said “The Nigerian government needs our cooperation more than we need the government as it concerns the extraction of the crude oil and hydrocarbon resources in our God-given land.”
Neither the Nigerian government nor the oil company have commented on this attack.
Officials in Nigeria continue to struggle to talk groups like the Niger Delta Avengers down from engaging in such reported attacks.
Such attacks have affected oil production in the country and the distribution of oil and gas to other West African countries that depend on Nigeria.
