US president elect Donald Trump appears to be winning the hearts of some Africans Despite his unpopularity among many Africans before the US elections.

Local media in Kenya, Daily Nation is reporting that a couple named their baby after Mr. Trump in the Kisumu county area.

The baby born on August 9, 2016 will be called Donald Trump Otieno. His parents are Felix Otieno and Lorna Akoth

Baby Donald’s parents decided to name him after the US president elect because of his business principles.

Mr. Otieno told the Daily Nation that “At the time, I was not sure whether Mr. Trump would pull a surprise victory but I had the conviction the businessman had what it took to be a leader,”

Many have criticized the couple for such a decision but Mr. Otieno said “Most politicians are not sincere like him. I admired him because he is a man who says what he thinks”.

Ms Akoth, the baby’s mother also told the Daily Nation she admires the posture of Mr. Trump and how frank he is about issues.

“He was frank and firm. At least he spoke the truth without using propaganda or lies to win votes. We loved him and had to name our son after him,” she told the Daily Nation.

Many Africans including Kenyans were shocked at the loss of Hillary Clinton in the November 8 elections.
