A child and another civilian have been killed in an explosion in the eastern city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
31 United Nation peacekeepers have also been confirmed to have sustained injuries in the blast.
The AFP news agency quoted UN spokesman Bilamekaso Tchagbele as saying that the child killed was a girl of eight years.
The UN also told Reuters news agency that the blast hit the Indian peacekeepers during a morning run in the western neighborhood of Keyshero in Goma city.
The cause of the blast is still unknown. An imam at a nearby mosque, told the news agency that three peacekeepers were killed.
“We just heard the explosion and the cries. We then ran over to see,” he told Reuters.
Some 18,000 U.N. officials work in the DRC.
