The judge that tried former president of Egypt last year has escaped death after surviving an assassination attempt on Friday.
The Reuters news agency reported that the interior ministry said a parked car exploded as the judge, Ahmed Aboul Fotouh’s vehicle drove by.
The interior ministry also said that Judge Ahmed Aboul Fotouh did not sustain any injuries.
This assassination plot is one of several attempts targeted at judges, policemen, and other senior state officials by militant groups who are angry at the jailing of members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack in the Nasr City.
Aboul Fotouh was on a panel that jailed the former president of Egypt Mohamed Morsi who was a senior member of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in 2015.
