3 Ghanaian cocoa farmers grab world’s best cocoa prize

Three Ghanaian cocoa farmers have been awarded at the 2017 edition of the Cocoa Excellence Awards ceremony, for having the best of the world’s standard for cocoa. The farmers are; Simon Marfo, John Kofi Asiamah, and Noah Obeng. The awards ceremony which took place in Paris – France, is held every two years to award the hard work of cocoa farmers across the world.

Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire sign cocoa deal

Ghana has signed an accord with its neighbour, Cote d’Ivoire, for closer collaboration in the areas of cocoa production and marketing. The Accra Agreement, signed on Friday, June 2, this year at the end of the two-day second technical cooperation meeting between both nations in the Ghanaian capital, seeks to assist the two countries to collaboratively tackle many challenges adversely affecting their cocoa economy, especially the issue of foreign pricing of cocoa by the West and Asia, among others. It was signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and the Director-General of the Council of Coffee and Cocoa, Cote d’Ivoire respectively on behalf of both countries.

Olam Cocoa opens innovation center, launches new powder brand

Olam Cocoa has marked the opening of its latest Cocoa Innovation Centre (CIC) in Willowbrook, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. The new facility will provide important innovation capabilities to support Olam Cocoa’s North American customers. The opening of this latest CIC, one of six globally, along with Centres in Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Singapore and UK, will assist customers in the refinement and reformulation of existing recipes, provide proof of concept opportunities, and aid in the development of new products across such diverse application categories as beverages, cereals, chocolate confectionery, dairy, biscuits and bakery, and ice cream.
