Global death toll from the coronavirus pandemic has now surpassed 100,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University’s tally of deaths across the world.

The university puts the current death doll as at April 10, 2020 at over 101,526 people.

There are also reports of more than 1,650,000 confirmed cases across the world as well.

At least 18,002 people have died in the US from coronavirus, according to a tally from Johns Hopkins University.

There are at least 486,490 cases of coronavirus in the US, and on Friday, Johns Hopkins reported 20,740 new cases and 1,318 reported deaths.

Spain, China, UK, USA, Italy, Iran, Germany and France have been badly affected in terms of infections and deaths.

France has the third highest coronavirus death toll in the world, surpassed only by Spain and Italy.

There have been over 370,000 recoveries and many of them have been from China, Spain and Germany.

In Africa death toll is at least 608 out of over 11,900 confirmed cases with only 1,586 recoveries.

African countries have put in place several measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

In many countries there is a curfew or a lockdown, restricting people’s movement and interaction.

Some African governments have tried to roll out some social intervention programs to help the poor survive the crisis.

Around the world the Easter Festivities usually celebrated by Christians has been disrupted as people remain indoor for the first time for many in recent history.
